The Anti-socialite.
Okay, I admit it. I've been feeling rather anti-social lately. Don't ask me why. (Ask me no questions, I'll tell you no lies ...)
It probably has something to do with my new job, which I do have and am enjoying, by the way. After (and some during) being let go from the seasonal job at the nursery, I spent a few weeks looking for work -- had a few ups and downs, a few highs and disappointments. I'm pretty happy with where I am now. Schumacher and Co. installs carpets and granite and tile, floors and countertops and bathrooms, commercial and residential, old and new. And they have paperwork, which I, although I daresay this makes me sound quite weird, don't at all mind doing. I've also been learning a new bit of software. I'd never used Quickbooks before, but it's fairly straightforward.
I don't actually work for this company, however. I work for a temp agency, and they posted me out there. Or in there. It's a 45 minute commute, because they are more central and I live out in the boonies. The last couple trips were fun, now that we have about 3 inches of snow, which is slowly melting in the 35-degree sunshine. I expect there will be lots of nice ice tonight and tomorrow. Hopefully, I won't have to drive anywhere over the weekend.
I enjoy looking at all the stone and tile samples. It's fun to learn a little about this, and a little about that. I've worked at a pizza place, a law office, a social services office, a garden nursery, and now a tile and stone installation headquarters. Oh, and an apartment managing office. Hmm. I think that's all. All this experience should stand me in good stead when I finally set up as a court reporter. It's useful to learn esoteric vocabulary and various job-specific things when you're going to do varied work.
So, raise your glasses of milk (or preferred beverage), and here's my toast to a merry and relaxing Christmas for all of you. I'm going to do nothing, very determinedly. We'll see how that works out.
